The McGuire nuclear power plant is located about 17 miles (27 km) northwest of Charlotte, North Carolina, on Lake Norman, a 32,500 acre (132 km²) lake created in 1963 by Duke Power for the Cowans Ford Hydroelectric Station. The McGuire units use the lake's water for cooling.

Car that drives itself on YouTube
IEEE and (CAR) Charlotte Area Robotics are hosting INSIGHT RACING.
They're a DARPA Urban Challenge competitor that is entering a Lotus
Elise in a Department of Defense sponsored competition.
The
competition is a race across the city with one EXCEPTION. There is no
one driving this car. All 30 teams' cars will be completely autonomous
and will not have any human input from the start to the finish of the
race. The Insight Racing team will be demonstrating the
capabilities of the actual car outside of Woodward Hall and then moving
inside to talk about how the car works.
